Self-Portrait Projects

I began my self-portrait journey August 2010, just after my 39th birthday. There are many reasons why I began and why it morphed into the focus it is today. I'm not a photographer. I often use just my iPhone (and the low-resolution front camera even). I struggle with insecurities and self-criticism. And while there are hundreds of reasons for me to talk myself out of a photo, I find triumph with each attempt.

You can learn a lot about my projects through my blog post here (early in my journey) and in a more recent podcast interview here. And check out my self-portrait inspiration board on Pinterest.

My personal self-portrait project is an evolving organism most often titled "There She Goes." I keep most of the images to myself, but I do share quite a few on my personal Facebook page and have just started to share them on Flickr, too.

And somehow, my medium of choice for self-discovery and worth seemed to resonate with friends and acquaintances, and we created a private Facebook group called Mirror, Mirror. If you'd like to participate, please just contact me. I'm happy to answer any questions you have, too.
